How to Remove Video & Audio Codecs in Windwos Movie Maker 2
Windows Movie Maker 2 can be picky at times about what Video/Audio Codecs it uses to render the Video project you are making.
Below is a Step By Step Instructions on how to disable certain Codecs that cause Windows Movie Maker 2 to Freeze and Lockup.
Disabling Codecs in Windows Movie Maker 2
- First Open Windows Movie Maker 2 (WMM 2 comes with Service Pack 2) [ Screen Cap ]
- Go to Tools/Options [ Screen Cap ]
- Now your at the options menu. this is where you can change the default Author and Auto Recovery Settings.Now click the Compatibility Tab

- Now uncheck all the Codecs you dont want WMM2 to use.

- If you don't see the Compatibility then make sure you have the current verison of Windows Movie Maker 2

the major ones are FFDShow and DivX. If you have them installed uncheck them in the WMM2 Compatibility Tab.
